Read Review – Spring 2021

The Spring 2021 Read Review Newsletter highlights CIIE’s efforts to immerse, engage and host during a dynamic spring semester. Key features include visiting scholar Dr. Busra Basak Ozyurt Soyturk from Turkey, whose research explores science education, inquiry learning, and assessment. The issue features alumnus Amoni Kitooke, who examines the expulsion of pregnant students in Uganda and advocates for equitable education policies. It also highlights Willis Welvis Kitto, who founded a community secondary school in Uganda following his ILEP experience. Additional updates include renewed study abroad plans, international conference support, and a new partnership with Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES) in Ecuador.

The Fall 2021 Read Review Newsletter highlights the Read Center's hosting of 21 international scholars for the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement in Media Literacy program, the resumption of study abroad programs to destinations like Ireland and Italy, and initiatives to reduce the center's carbon footprint.

 

The Fall 2020 Read Review Newsletter introduces Dr. Amanda Johnson as the new director of the Read Center, highlighting her commitment to expanding the center's global educational initiatives. The issue also features the appointment of Dr. Isidro Fierro to the Professional Advisory Board, marking the center's first Latin American board member. Additionally, it spotlights visiting scholar Shasha Wu from China, who is conducting research on critical thinking and cross-cultural communication.
