Career Technical Education Day Brings Ohio Educators to Franklin Hall

This fall, 青年涩导航鈥檚 Franklin Hall opened its doors to more than 70 Career Technical Education (CTE) teachers from across Northeast Ohio for a day of professional development, networking and hands-on learning. The event brought together educators who are shaping the next generation of students in skilled trades, applied sciences, modern technologies and career preparation, including pathways that align closely with the programs offered in the College of Communication and Information (CCI).

Within Ohio鈥檚 CTE system, the Arts and Communication pathway connects directly to several of CCI鈥檚 disciplines, such as Digital Media Production and Visual Communication Design, while other pathways like Marketing and Information Technology also intersect with CCI coursework and career preparation.

During the event, 青年涩导航 faculty led 11 profession-informed sessions covering topics like AI in education, documentary and sound production, design principles, advertising, public relations and teaching writing. The sessions offered CTE educators' insight into how communication and media programs are evolving, and how their high school students can continue developing those skills at the collegiate level.

The day also included a tour of Student Media, where visiting educators had the opportunity to explore Franklin Hall鈥檚 active newsroom, broadcast studio and creative spaces. Student leaders shared their experiences working in print, digital and broadcast media, giving visitors a firsthand look at how students learn by doing.

The event was a collaborative effort between the Center for Scholastic Journalism and CCI Recruiting. The Center for Scholastic Journalism provided key support in organizing the program, reinforcing 青年涩导航鈥檚 ongoing commitment to supporting both high school and college-level media education.

CTE Day served as a bridge between secondary and higher education, connecting classroom educators with university faculty and students who share a passion for communication, creativity and storytelling.
