President Warren Uses Her Athletic Past to Guide the Future

ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ President Beverly Warren shares her unique résumé, merging academics with athletics. Warren sat down with a Record-Courier reporter to discuss her humble start as a basketball and volleyball coach at the University of Montevallo and how the experience helped her develop an inclusive and collaborate leadership style at ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½.

When asked about her plans for the athletic programs at ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½, Warren talked about her desire to move toward a more competitive environment within the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and encourage a dynamically fun atmosphere that pulls students together at all ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ athletic events.

Warren also discussed what she wants from each athletic program: to be competitive.

In the newly released rankings, ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ is once again the highest-ranked public institution in northern Ohio, and with its impressive national ranking of No. 129, the university continues to be recognized among the Top Public Schools in the nation.

The ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ Board of Trustees welcomed the Class of 2029 during its regular quarterly meeting held Sept. 17 in the Kent Student Center. The Board congratulated the university administration for this year’s strong enrollment.  

The ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.
