ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ Healthcare Design Researcher Receives $2.47 Million to Design Safer and More Efficient Level I Trauma Rooms
Traumatic injuries are the third leading cause of death nationally and the first in Americans age 44 and younger, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Level I trauma rooms are intended to stabilize and save the lives of patients with the most severe traumatic injuries. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has awarded a $2.47 million grant to Sara Bayramzadeh, a ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ researcher, to help create trauma rooms that support staff in saving patients’ lives.

ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ Nursing Alumna Reflects on May 4 Tragedy
In the spring of 1970, two-time ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ alumna and registered nurse Pat Gless was a junior in ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½â€™s inaugural nursing program. While in class on Monday, May 4, a professor rushed into her classroom and warned students who could leave campus to do so. Fifty years later, Gless now reflects on the events surrounding that tragedy and how they have impacted her life and nursing career.

University Hospitals and ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ are joining forces to address the ongoing nursing shortage in Northeast Ohio through a new nursing education initiative that will increase the number of baccalaureate-degreed nurses who enter the workforce each year.

ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ Nursing Student Recognized With the Congressional Award Silver Medal
U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan presented ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ nursing major Austin Croft with the Congressional Award Silver Medal on Tuesday, Nov. 27. Mr. Croft, of Akron, Ohio, was recognized at a ceremony that took place at the College of Nursing where he was praised for his dedication to improving himself and his community.
