Building Support for Affordable Course Materials

ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ understands the financial impact course materials have on students and is taking measures to reduce those costs to Golden Flashes. University Libraries hosted the 2024 Affordable Course Materials Summit, the fourth of its kind, aiming to promote the use of inexpensive course materials among faculty.

Honoring All Those Who Serve: ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ Holds Annual Veterans Day Observance

ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ invites all to pay tribute to those who have served in the U.S. armed forces and attend the university’s annual Veterans Day Commemoration. The event will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, at the Student Green on the Kent Campus.

From Public Health Graduate to Air Force Epidemiologist

Victoria Bylsma said it only took about two hours after a mentor suggested she look into a graduate degree in public health for her to know what she wanted to do with her career. Today, the ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ Master of Public Health graduate helps to protect service members’ health and readiness as an injury epidemiologist at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Dayton.

On Halloween, the Kent Student Center and the University Library welcomed student trick-or-treaters in the afternoon and the Flashes Activity Board held a Boo Bash later in the day. ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½'s Elvis was spotted handing out treats on Risman Plaza. 

FROM BANGLADESH TO THE STARS: Turaba Rahman's Journey in Astrophysics

Turaba Rahman, a senior at ÇàÄêɬµ¼º½ and in the Honors College, grew up in Dhaka, Bangladesh. When she was little, she was enamored with stargazing. Where she lived, it was hard to see the sky through the buildings and lights that blocked it, but she always tried her best to spot constellations. Ever since she can remember being frustrated while trying to draw the perfect star, she had fallen in love with the giant spheres of dust and gas.
